Dyslexia symptoms

Dyslexia is a disability first noticed in the 19th century that affects many children and grown ups.

If you are a parent and think your child has dyslexia, you need to notice his behavior and see if he has some of these symptoms:

• The child started late to speak his first words;
• He is learning very slow the new words
• At school he doesn’t recognize very well the different letters of the alphabet;
• You couldn’t teach him any nursery rhymes
• After he started reading he is very slow or he can’t read well
• When he is reading sometimes he is skipping words;
• He spends most of his day not playing, but day dreaming;
• You can’t get his attention, or he can’t stay focused only for a little while;
• Even if in other situations he is smart, when you put him to read or write something he has problems with it
• His teacher said you more then once that she thinks he is too lazy;
• The child has a low self esteem.
• He only can learn new stuff if you demonstrate it the actual thing or if he has the chance to touch it;
• Even if he has this learning problems, he seems to be very good at art, sports etc.
• After he is older and you put him to read, he says his stomach hurts or that he suffers from head pain;
• He can’t tell what hour it is if you give him a clock (or maybe he recognizes only the hours)
• He may not have the notion of time
• You noticed that his peripheral vision is low
• He gets very quickly distracted
• He doesn’t remember the new words or even experiences, but he has a good memory for the long period, like recognizing people he knew as a child, or different actions that he done more then once
• He knows the numbers and can add them or tell them in order, but if he has to do a practical action like counting objects in a table he can’t do it
• When he is with other kids or persons he might want to get all the attention (or even cause problems to succeed this) or stay in his own corner and be quiet
• He is a stressed and emotional kid
• They can’t remember the meaning of some words like left or right, yesterday or tomorrow. All directionality words are ward for them to understand and use, so if you say to him to go in the left side of the room he will go in the right one.
